Delivery of school supplies for Sonnia House

Updated: Jun 24, 2018

When I was establishing BOM, I wanted to help people in Sierra Leone, as it is one of the poorest nations in the world. But I knew no one from there. So I prayed. When I went to my fundraising class, I met Massah Smith. Massah established Sonnia House and told me her story.

Sonnia House is named after Sonnia, the daughter of a friend of Massah and Smith is Massah's last name. Sonnia made a living by prostituting herself. One day, she was raped and stabbed to death and her body was thrown in the garbage. She was only 16 years old. Massah decided to start Sonnia House after her death as she wants to rescue poor vulnerable children so they don't end up dead like Sonnia. Her story made me cry.

The smallest things can make them smile. Do you know how much effect a brand new backpack has on them? Massah can you tell you.

Then there was Fatima. Fatima is born small with an impaired leg. She was raised by her grandmother after both her parents died. When her grandmother died, Fatima did not have money to provide her with a simple Muslim burial. Massah provided $50 for the funeral to take place. Since then, Fatima has become a resident of Sonnia House. I cried again. BOM chooses to help Massah as the children at Sonnia House need us. The smallest things can make them smile. Do you know how much effect a brand new backpack has on them? Massah can you tell you. More pictures to come upon delivery of the school supplies to the children.
